In order to meet the demands in the modern production of special-purpose chemicals, pharmaceuticals, aromas, etc., catalytic reactions and processes have to be designed so that they are more effective, more selective and more energy-efficient. For this purpose, it is necessary to optimize the corresponding substrates for catalytically active materials in order to improve process control or to generate the catalytically active substances in nanoclusters on the substrates using appropriate procedures. The polymer-based spherical activated carbons made by Blücher meet precisely these requirements.
